Prep Your Vehicle for Winter: Tires and Other Seasonal Services

It's the beginning of October, which means winter is on the horizon. As the temperature drops and forecasts predict snow, you want to make sure your car is ready to navigate the winter roads safely. If you have a set of dedicated winter tires or need a new set, it's recommended to prep ahead of time so you don't get caught in a rush to do things after the first big snow storm is announced. That goes for some other seasonal maintenance items as well. It's a good idea to schedule your automotive winter maintenance services together, so you can save time and money having everything done at once.

At David's Certified Auto Repair, we can assist with your winter prep—we're even running a limited time offer. Keep reading to learn how you can get your vehicle is ready for the season with our team.

Winter Tires

When it's time to find a new set of winter tires, we have you covered at David's Certified Auto Repair. Shop tires online to compare options and find the perfect solution for you and your vehicle, and don't forget to look for deals, like tire rebates, to maximize savings.

Winter tires are specifically designed to provide enhanced traction and control on snowy roads. These tires are made using a soft rubber compound that stays flexible in freezing temperatures, and feature they feature a tread pattern full of sipes, thin slits or grooves cut into the tread of a tire to improve a tire's traction. These features allow them to grip the road in conditions that would give other tires trouble.

Other Winter Car Services + Limited Time Offer

When people think about winter vehicle maintenance, winter tire services tend to be a top-of-mind item. But, it's far from the only service. For a limited time, David's Certified Auto Repair is offering $35 off our winter service package that includes the following:

  • Charging system test: The starting and charging system test is recommended because cold weather puts additional strain on your battery. By having your battery tested and other parts of the charging system checked, you are taking preventative measures to lower your chances of getting stranded in the chilly weather due to a weak or dying battery or other charging system issue. Getting stranded during warm weather is bad enough, but getting stranded when it's cold and dark out adds another layer of frustration, so set yourself up for success with a charging system test.
  • Cooling system test: Yes, that's right! If your coolant levels are low, it's possible for the radiator to freeze and even crack. Similarly, other components, like hoses, should be checked for cracks or leaks that can lead to this scenario. And although it will be cold outside, remember that your engine still runs hot and needs to stay within the correct operating temperatures. A cooling system pressure test is food to have before winter for these reasons.
  • Tire rotation: If you're not changing to a set of dedicated winters, now's a good time to have your tires rotated. Routine rotations are recommended as part of standard auto maintenance. This service helps the tires to wear evenly to prevent a situation where you end up with two good tires and two that are no longer suitable for the road.
  • Wiper blade replacement: Don't forget to change your wiper blades. Winter will bring rain, slush, and snow. You'll want to make sure you can see well in inclement weather and wipe away any kickback from other vehicles without worrying about large streaks that will hinder your ability to see.

Our comprehensive package will give you extra peace when driving in Waunakee and surrounding areas during winter.
